We just had a new pug puppy in the last few months and are just nuts about him. She is 8 wks. old and her name is Madison. However breaking her in is causing us a few troubles
It is not strange for pugs to have days that they do real good and then its like she is mad at us for something and that is how she is getting back at us You should see the look on her face
Our pug likes to be a bit of a diva and shouts to beat the band when she finds my husband putting on his coat and hat and heading for the door. If she desires 100% attention she sprints across to her puppy pad as fast as her little legs will carry her, it is hysteric to watch
Every book and training method possible has been used to try and housetrain her but not always with the result we were looking for.Few weeks she wont go near her pad which is very frustrating.Sometimes we take her out and she does nothing and holds off until she comes back inside, but because we love her so much we just smile and accept it, we know we will sort it out at some level, we know it isn't her flaw but probably our training methods which are trash.
We took her to the veterinarian for a check up thinking maybe she had lice as pug dogs do get worms --negative on that.We haven't changed anything in her diet, she's not fed off the table, her reward for doing good is a treat piece of dog bone for puppies
I thought I came across an article recently that claimed that pug puppies are notorious for forgetting everything they have learned. She gets to go outside every two hours or so no matter how much water she has depleted . She manages to last eight to 10 hours depending on how long she sleeps for, Some weeks ago I left the door open so she could go to the toilet on her puppy pad but that was a failure. Just the other day a pair of my husbands trousers were on the floor and she resolved that would be a great place to go to the bathroom, he wasn't impressed
She isn't whipped, or screames at for her accidents just told no no and then took outside. How can we fix this confusion. Are we confusing her with outside and the pad.I cant imagine what we have done wrong so that she is so mazed.Any aid would be appreciated. She is the first dog we have tried to housebreak and I am already feel like a loser.
